Join the DJC, City Shul, First Narayever and Darchei Noam for a walking tour of one of Toronto's first Jewish neighbourhoods: the Kensington Market area. With expert guide Susan Jackson, we'll discover the fascinating living-history of the Jewish immigrant populations who helped build Toronto. The tour will begin in Kensington Market at 11 am, with 10-15 stops, ending at Free Times Cafe at 1:15 pm with the option to stay on for their famous authentic Jewish brunch buffet. Those who can not make the tour can certainly join us for brunch. Please reserve your spot.
After brunch, the story of downtown Jewish Toronto comes full circle as we pay a short visit to the FENTSTER window gallery and storefront hub of the grassroots community, Makom. Meet FENTSTER curator and DJC member, Evelyn Tauben and be among the first to see a new exhibition by Simon Glass.
To register email djcMemberEngagement@gmail.com and include: 1. your name, 2. the name of your congregation and 3. if you would like to be included in the Free Times Cafe reservation. The cost of the brunch is not covered by the tour.
The tour can accommodate 25 people (6 per congregation) so please register early! We will keep a waiting list.
Note: Departure point will be provided with RSVP.
