Talkabout: A Symposium on Liberal Jewish Responses to Aging

In  December, 2012, Congregation Darchei Noam hosted TALKABOUT: A Symposium on Liberal Jewish Responses to Aging, the first event of its kind in Toronto’s Liberal Jewish community. Co-sponsored by Temple Har Zion and  Beit Rayim Synagogue, the event brought together three leading experts in the fields of Canadian law, medicine, and liberal, progressive halachah (Jewish law) to discuss issues of concern. Designed to address areas of concern to families of all ages, a panel discussion as well as mini-workshops were offered by:

  • Charles Ticker (Estate Litigation, Mediation and Administration) on powers of attorney
  • Rabbi Michael Stroh (Rabbi Emeritus, Temple Har Zion) on Liberal halachic perspectives on Jewish biomedical ethics
  • Dr. Sandy Buchman (Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care) on palliative and end-of-life care

Darchei Noam looks forward to continuing to offer informative, educational sessions.
