The Social Justice Scholar-in-Residence for the coming year is Bernie M. Farber.

As a long-time CEO of the former Canadian Jewish Congress, Bernie Farber is a respected leader in the Canadian Jewish community. He brings strong social justice values and a history of building bridges between diverse communities.

Currently Bernie is the Executive Director of the Mosaic Institute. In this role he fosters dialogue between many diverse Canadian communities which are in conflict. Read more about the Mosaic Institute.

Prior to his work at Mosaic, Bernie was Senior Vice-President of Gemini Power Corporation, and CEO of the Paloma Foundation. In this role, he worked in partnership with First Nations peoples to promote economic development in tandem with sustainable energy development. With Paloma he assisted in providing charitable grants to Toronto homeless youth shelters.

We look forward to welcoming him, and to receiving a wealth of wisdom and inspiration to build on our Darchei Noam values. Watch for the announcements of Bernie’s two Social Justice shabbatot during the 2016/17 year.
