AOK had a wonderful meeting on November 19, 2019. Seventeen people turned out to practice Qi Gong under the leadership of Thelma Feldman. To prepare and get in the right mindset the following Kavanah was offered:
We have gathered here as a community committed to Social Justice and Tikkun Olam.
We are grateful for all the blessings we have experienced and today for the opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of “ve’ahavta lere’acha kamocha” --to love our neighbour, as we love ourselves. We are grateful to all those who donated purses and the contents with which to fill them. May our intention of helping others help make this project a success and may those women who receive these purses, filled with Chesed, take comfort in knowing others do care.
Then we proceeded to fill 120 purses with wonderful and useful items donated from multiple sources, including hats and scarves knitted by our Pins and Needles group. In addition 35 more purses were donated for future use. The purses are being donated to the Fill A Purse For A Sister 2019 Campaign brought to Darchei Noam by Elana Glass. The purses were delivered to National Council of Jewish Women for distribution to women who are homeless.
