Community Quilt Project

Just think if we made a collective quilt or wall hanging to express what social isolation has meant to each of us?

Each person should cut out a 6 inch square from any plain material around the house (for example, an old shirt or a pillow case).

Feelings about social isolation can be expressed on each square by using any of these possibilities:

  • cross stitching
  • drawing
  • painting
  • embroidering
  • writing
  • another creative choice

A one inch border should be left on all sides of each square to allow space for sewing it all together.

Additional instructions:

-Due date no later than August 15

-Submission to either Bernie Riley or Miriam Bester

-A photo of yourself would be welcome but is optional

-A description of what your artwork conveys

-You may submit more than 1 square.

Does this catch your imagination? Artistic talent not required. Just an expression of the heart.

Please contact
Miriam Bester to confirm participation, or if you have any questions.

Once you have a finished square ready, send a close-up digital photograph of it to David.

As our quilt progresses, we will create an online virtual quilt to share with our community.
