Elections for the 21st Knesset have been called and Israelis will be heading for the polls on April 9th. The stakes are high, and the direction of the Zionist state is in the balance. The run up period to all Israeli elections is a rollercoaster experience with parties breaking up, forming, breaking up, re-forming, aligning and then maligning each other! Several candidates have possible indictments hanging over them. Who are they, and does anyone care? Who are the major players? What and whom do they represent? With whom might they jump into bed and who will be sorry the next morning? Who is likely to form a government and who will hold the balance of power? With over 10 parties represented in the outgoing Knesset, how many might we expect this time around? It’s Proportional Representation, aka, Democracy on Steroids! To help you make sense of this circus, come and learn from our resident Israeli political analyst, Shirley Segev. In a 2-part presentation, Shirley will provide you with the tools you need to understand who’s who and what’s what prior to the elections (on April 7th) and then help you make sense of the voting results (on April 28th).
