Shabbat

Shabbat at Darchei Noam is a truly special time; you’ll feel the warmth and buzz of activity from the moment you walk in our doors. The building is filled to the brim with vibrant activity: song-filled Shabbat morning services in our beautiful sanctuary; interactive children’s programming; Torah study; family Kabbalat Shabbat services; lectures; alternative creative services; Israeli dancing and communal Kiddush. Whatever you are looking for on Shabbat, Darchei Noam has something for you! For more information on Torah Study or special Shabbat programming, like Israeli dancing or special lectures, visit our Program Calendar.

Shabbat morning services use the Reconstructionist prayerbook "Kol Haneshamah Shabbat v’Chagim". The prayer service follows the traditional structure of davening from Birchot Hashachar and the Amidah, right through to the Reading of the Torah and Mourners’ Kaddish. In addition to inspiring Divrei Torah by Rabbi Tina Grimberg, Darchei Noam's B’nei Mitzvah youth, and other congregants, our services are enriched by the beautiful chanting voices of our many talented service leaders. All Shabbat services are egalitarian and child-friendly, and are followed by the traditional blessings over wine and challah, and a delicious Kiddush lunch.
