On Tuesday April 27, the Darchei Noam Bar/ Bat Mitzvah class hosted a zoom discussion with Holocaust survivor Sophie Krausz. Sophie was born in Russia two months after the Holocaust commenced. She lived in Poland for 13 years and immigrated to Montreal 1958. Sophie spoke about what she remembered growing up and how the events shaped her life. She also spoke about attending the March of the Living and going back and seeing the monuments and the remains of the camps.
Since her husband died, Sophie moved into the Baycrest Terrace where she is thriving and taking on more activities than ever. Sophie participates in the choir, knitting, education classes and is even on the board of several committees.
Sophie was charming and took many questions from students and parents that had come to listen Sophie.
