Darchei Noam is a progressive egalitarian Reconstructionist congregation. Our movement’s motto is: Deeply rooted; Boldly relevant.

Darchei Noam is a community where we share the joy of happy milestones in our lives, where we are accepted and respected for who we are, where we learn, and where we have fun. And in times of sorrow and pain, we know we can depend on support, both emotional and practical, from our community.

What do our members say?

Watch this short video and hear from some of our members – young people who grew up with us, founding members who have watched us grow, and new members who recently found their home here:

Is Darchei Noam for you?

Darchei Noam is for everyone:

Our membership reflects the diversity of the Jewish people. Jews of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and family compositions are an organic part of our community. Interfaith families participate fully in synagogue life.

Darchei Noam is for children:

We have programs for children of all ages: Music for babies, ShabbaTOT, Hebrew School, Bar/Bat mitzvah program, Teen program, Family programs and celebrations.

Darchei Noam is for adults:

Our stimulating programs for adults include: Adult Education, HOPE (support to members acting as caregivers to parents or family), Interfaith Dialogue, Israel Connections, Adult Bat/Bar Mitzvah classes, and more.
Darchei Noam is for lifelong spiritual growth and learning:

Participate in Shabbat and holiday services, Synaplex Shabbat, Torah study, Talmud study, and the Downtown Minyan.

Darchei Noam is for Tikkun Olam – Repairing the World:

We offer meaningful ways to work together towards improving the world we live in, working on social justice issues such as poverty alleviation, affordable housing, the environment, Out of the Cold, and support for newcomers to Canada.

Darchei Noam is for connecting to Israel:

Israel is central to Judaism, and we respect the complexity of today’s Israel and the diversity of opinions about Israel among Darchei Noam members.  Through Israeli dancing, film, the arts, education and discussion, we present a balanced view of the full spectrum of Israeli life and culture.
Darchei Noam is our Rabbi:

Our congregation has been led by the vibrant Tina Grimberg since 2002. With her deep intellect, empathy, and fabulous sense of humour, she has a strong ability to build meaningful relationships. We are inspired by our Rabbi’s dedication, creativity and knowledge.

Darchei Noam is friends and community:

Darchei Noam offers many ways of connecting, both formal and informal. Together, we celebrate in times of joy, and we support each other in times of need.

Darchei Noam is accessible:

We provide disabled parking, wheelchair access throughout, large print prayer books, and a scent-reduced environment. Tell us what YOU need!
