Hello, I’m Ben. I am having my Bar Mitzvah this year and I am a part of Darchei Noam’s 2015/2016 Bar/Bat Mitzvah group. As an opportunity to learn more about the Jewish culture, our class took a trip to the Woodland Trails Scout Camp. We spent a night in a big cabin learning about our culture and religion by talking about important mitzvot like tzedakah and learning what the Torah says to do in difficult situations, like having to save someone from drowning, when you can’t swim. When we weren’t learning about our culture, we got to bond a bit more with each other, play cards, and go hiking.
Overall, the trip was a great experience, and I made some memories that will last for a long, long, time. I feel proud and happy to be a part of the Darchei Noam Bar/Bat Mitzvah group because I am learning new things about the Jewish culture, I have made some great new friends, and also, I am representing this synagogue. I am proud to represent this place because there are so many great and kind people here. They get together every week to recognize what is important in life, and that is a great place to be a part of.
